Congo Rape

Nine-year-old Belize never imagined what the word rape meant until it happened to her. On her way to school after doing an errand for her parents a Congolese soldier grabbed her, drug her into the bushes and violently raped her. She has nightmares now, fears she may be infected with aids and her father says she has lost her song in life.

SB- I know that going to the Congo has been a dream of yours for SO LONG and I am so happy to hear that you have made it there. This is the saddest thing ever...And there is no one who could show the world what is wrong over there than you. Be safe and have faith in yourself always. Thinking about you here in Eugene, OR....Annie Frantzeskos

I'm at a loss for words. The story you sent me in your last email was very impactful.

I am doing a group project for my international studies class and I wish we had chosen this topic so I could look into it further.

What you're doing over there is amazing and I'm so happy that you are able to be there to tell the stories of the women and girls in the Congo.

These are the most amazing images that I have seen. My eyes fill with tears when I see this. Being of African descent this subject being covered so delicately and honestly is important to me. Are you the lovesimplyhappens who also does weddings???? Seems like the opposite?

Come On In
