Belice and Her Water Can

Nine-year-old Belice with her Jerrycan listens to her mother before heading off to get water for the family. The trip for water includes passing by the CDNP rebel soldiers, and going along paths that bring back memories of her rape.

This little girl looks so vulnerable. After reading her story I feel like picking her up and hugging her.
She looks like she could use lots of hugs. Blessings Krissy

thanks for sharing this story. my wife and I are following this journey.
may God bless these people in the Congo.
very awesome that these people gave you a grant to do this very important work. I knew nothing of the congo and this problem until I read this.

Sherrlyn, Such powerful images. It's a story that isn't being told, at least, not often enough. I can tell you've poured your heart and soul into this project. And if I know you I'm sure you've touched many lives there. I don't know how you do it. Today is Christmas. I hope some of this spirit is alive in the Congo. Come home safe.

Sherrlyn,

It's seems strange to say 'Merry Christmas' to you in a world so far away... and perhaps even farther from 'Merry' than any of us could imagine. You are in my thoughts and prayers though, and so are these precious kids you've opened our eyes to during your journey. Sometimes it takes someone like you, to put life into perspective for the rest of us. Here in the US, we truly have so much to be thankful for. Just being born on this soil is a privilege.

Come On In

Post a note, a poem, a newsbit whatever you please.
