Showing Belice's Story

Each time nine-year-old Belice leaves her home to get water she passes soldiers like those who raped her.
Belice hesitates to go get water and insists one of her siblings come along.

If you go to the WPPI conference pleas stop by ShootQ and Lacour and check out the slide show on the Congo and little Belice.
You can donate by clicking on Paypal on this blog and determine the donation to Belice. Nine-year-old Belice and 80% of the women and her village have been violently raped by soldiers.
Partial words from Brandon Heath's song "Give Me Your Eyes" hear the awesome song in whole on the right side bar! It's the most beautiful song.(I really think his song goes best with these pictures) hey Brandon Heath what do you think?

Chorus:
Lord,
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, he's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared
I've been here a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well, I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way You've seen the people all along

what a great sobering counter to all those articles i'm reading lately about how awful it is that in this economic situation kids are having to go without cell phones and ipods. those images are disturbing and therefore perfect.
thank you for discovering my blog, and i'm glad to find yours as well.

Thanks for these comments. At the moment a news magazine has the photo story of Belice and hopefully will be publishing it soon. It would be wonderful for Belice, her brothers and sisters and her whole village to be able to have the children in school.
