My interview with CNN

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/08/11/congo.rape/index.html#cnnSTCText
You can read about the Congo and the resource war at this link. CNN interviewed me about my work in the Congo and the story I told about nine-year-old Belice who was raped by soldiers. More Pictures on my website where I've posted some pictures from my trip to the Congo. http://www.BorkgrenPhoto.net

To Sherrlyn - I came across your interview with CNN, and was just saddened beyond belief at what we do to each other...I don't understand why these things happen. My Mother used to ask all of us kids, "Can't Ya'll just get along?" and even though I laugh when I think about it, I do sometimes wonder why the world can't "just get along". And yes, I know how naieve I am. With that being said, Bringing these stories to light is so important. That young woman in the Republic of Congo(?) will always remember your kindness and respect. As you well know, there are so,so many stories like hers and worse. Thank you for recording them. Hopefully, more people will stand up and say that this type of behaviour is UNACCEPTABLE!!! Best wishes, good luck in the future, and thank you for your fine photojournalism.

Thank you so much for the post on my blog, it's so cool that you actually went to my site! I am working on creating something more professional for myself, but a little blog will do for now! I do have a few questions for you about your entrance into the photography market! I have read through your bio and I think it is really fascinating how you got into photo journalism and how you got some of your incredible images from around the world, but what I think it really cool is how that some how lead you into wedding photography. It seems like you went from something so chaotic and scary to something beautiful and romantic! What lead you to pick wedding photography? Was it a difficult thing to get into with all your previous experience with photography and already being published in magazines? What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when you were starting your business? Is there anything you think you would do differently? What advice could you offer to someone with dreams of becoming a portrait photographer and one day making a living doing it!?
I don't want to ask too much, fill free to pick and choose what you answer! Any advice will help!
I hope you are having a pleasant week!

Stevi, I want to answer part of your questions...first of all go for it if you want to be a portrait photographer and you feel passionate about it. Some people can make a living at it and others find that they are happier keeping it as a hobby.
I started photographing weddings because I was feeling too much pain in my life for the people I was photographing and wanted (needed) to surround myself with love and happiness. I had gotten to the point of worrying about everyone I had done a story about. Now, I love doing both. Balance is important.

I don't know what to say. I'm stunned. I have seen good portrait photographers then I have seen good war photographers. but I have not seen this in one person. I cry because of the pictures that make me happy from you and I cry because of the pictures that make me sad from you. Then I cry because you are especially gifted and you I think are quiet with this gift. You must be exposed queridita.

Come On In
